S4A & WDC 2024: Community Transformation
We’re so excited that Space 4 Art’s World Design Capital 2024 project, titled “Co-Creating A Community-Based Arts Center,” is one of only 12 Arts and Culture Impact projects! All WDC Impact projects are supported by WDC 2024’s Design-to-Action Network and eligible to be designated as Legacy projects for WDC 2024.
WDC is the brainchild of the Montreal-based World Design Organization, which recognizes a different city every two years for its effective use of design to enhance economic, social, cultural, and environmental quality of life. Through a succession of public events— ranging from exhibitions and conferences to celebrations —WDC 2024 will showcase Impact projects that invite active participation from the community.
So what is the Design-to-Action Network and how will it support S4A’s Impact project? The Design-to-Action Network (DAN) consists of researchers and leaders in design, business, academia, and community. While WDC 2024 will highlight hundreds of local projects, the DAN will offer special guidance and support for S4A and other Impact projects that can be further designated as Legacy projects. A Legacy distinction acknowledges that our project will positively impact our region well past the one-year duration of WDC 2024.
We encourage you to read more about World Design Capital 2024 and all the ways it will benefit our region in the coming year. Watch this space throughout 2024 for more updates about Space 4 Art’s project and the larger WDC 2024 impact on the San Diego/Tijuana region. Stay tuned for an exciting year!
