2023 Impact Report

Space 4 Art’s 2023 Impact Report is here! We invite you to read the entire report and celebrate all that you’ve helped make possible. Below are a few highlights of which we are particularly proud.

King-Chavez kindergartners march with handmade instruments, led by S4A resident artist Sean Francis Conway.

This past year, 12 artists led over 92 workshops across eight partner sites, resulting in more than 1,480 interactions with over 310 students— many of whom are experiencing housing or food insecurity. Through these healing and expressive arts experiences, the students get a break from their daily concerns. One student from Monarch School noted, “You just get to be yourself when sculpting the clay— there are no limits. It’s an art form where you can express yourself.”

Space 4 Art continued to provide affordable live/work studios for 44 artists, saving them over $185,000 in 2023. Our rental rate is 40% of the average cost of local residential space and 65% of commercial space. Resident artist Brennan Hubbell cited another benefit, stating, “It is very meaningful for me to see the other artists of Space 4 Art daily. It helps me as an artist. Their art gives me ideas. They inspire me.”

Over 470 guests have attended 10 free events so far in 2023, and we still have two more planned this year! This spring, we produced our first post-pandemic art show. This summer, we held some intimate artist-hosted events, and we’ve also hosted two of our four annual Open Studios.

We hope to see you all for our final two Open Studios on Saturday, October 28 and Saturday, December 9! Please check our website for performance schedules and event details.
