Celebrating the Diaz Family: Long-time and New Tenants!

We are thrilled to introduce our newest tenant artists: Abril Diaz and Silvio Diaz. Together with their father, Felix Diaz, the Diaz brothers are the force behind Drummers Without Borders.

The Diaz family, who have long been involved in the arts and social activism, are no strangers to our community. Felix Diaz has been a beloved long-time tenant artist and changemaker, deeply invested in our creative ecosystem. His passion for drumming and community has inspired so many of us over the years. Felix, Abril, and Silvio are also S4A teaching artists, bringing drumming and rhythm classes to students from elementary to high school classes through our programs.

Felix, Silvio, and Abril Diaz are more than just artists; they are changemakers, using the language of music and the power of art to uplift and unite. We are incredibly fortunate to have them as part of our community, and we look forward to the many collaborations and projects that will unfold as they continue their residency with us.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to check out the amazing work Drummers Without Borders is doing both inside and outside of our building. The Diaz family's efforts are an inspiring reminder of how art can transform not just a space, but also the lives of those who experience it.

One of the first things you'll notice when you visit Space 4 Art is the stunning visual transformation the Diaz family spearheaded. In addition to their work as drummers and educators, they’ve left a lasting impact on the physical space itself with a massive paint job and beautification project that has completely revitalized the building’s exterior walls. This generous contribution is a reflection of the Diaz family’s vibrant artistic vision and commitment to art and their community.

Felix always brings fresh ideas on how to improve the space, constantly thinking about our tenant artists and how he can contribute ideas around sustainability, beautification, and community building.

In their new role as tenant artists, Silvio and Abril continue the work they and their father have championed for years, blending their musical talents with a strong commitment to social justice and community wellness.
