Linda Litteral in the News

S4A Artist and Board Secretary Linda Litteral is in the news! Karla Peterson of the Union-Tribune featured Linda in her column this week.

Space 4 Art is proud to provide Linda with affordable space while she takes on the daunting task of creating art for her memoir about childhood sexual abuse and her healing journey. As Linda delved into painful memories of her past, it took a village to support her inner child. She is grateful to Lynn Susholtz at Art Produce for giving her four months of free space where she could reflect in private and do the bulk of the writing for the memoir.

In addition to her studio work at Space 4 Art, Linda has a robust teaching artist practice in which she shares the healing power of art with others. On May 25th, Space 4 Art celebrated an installation of tiled benches and murals created by Linda and art students at Crawford High School. We are grateful to The San Diego Foundation and Mission Driven Finance for making this program possible!

We invite you to read about Linda’s work and her story, through Karla’s thoughtful perspective. Incest is not something we as a society like to talk about or look at. Linda makes intentionally beautiful pieces, reminding us that those being abused and survivors of abuse ARE beautiful. We hope you, like Karla, take the time to really see Linda and her story through her words and artwork.

You can meet Linda and see her work in person at our next Open Studios on June 17th! Space 4 Art will be open to the public from 7 to 9:30 PM and we hope to see you there.
